Overview

DLBS1033 + aspirin is a combination therapy of DLBS1033, a standardized protein fraction containing lumbrokinase derived from the earthworm Lumbricus rubellus, and aspirin, a well-established antiplatelet agent. DLBS1033 comprises eight major proteins, including lumbrokinase and other fibrinolytic proteases, which possess antithrombotic and thrombolytic properties by promoting fibrinolysis, direct fibrinogenolysis, and reducing platelet aggregation. Aspirin irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), thereby reducing thromboxane A2 production and preventing platelet activation and aggregation. This combination is under clinical investigation for synergistic effects in vascular diseases requiring reduction of blood clot formation, such as peripheral arterial disease (PAD), ischemic stroke, and atherosclerosis[2][3][5]. Clinical studies have evaluated this combination for improving functional status in acute ischemic stroke and peripheral arterial disease, especially in diabetic patients[2][5].
