Overview

Collaborations Pharmaceuticals is developing a preclinical-stage program of non-hallucinogenic psychoplastogens, with DM506 as a lead compound, for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD). These small molecules act as agonists or modulators of the serotonin 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C receptors. Unlike traditional psychedelics, these compounds are designed to induce neuroplasticity and neuritogenesis—specifically attenuating cue-induced drug seeking and inhibiting tonic GABA currents in the prelimbic cortex—without producing hallucinogenic effects. The program aims to reduce drug dependence through neuroplastic mechanisms rather than targeting opioid receptors directly. This research has been supported by Phase I SBIR grants from the NIH/NIDA.
