docetaxel + 177Lu-PSMA-I&T is a combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of chemotherapy-naïve metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The combination consists of docetaxel, a taxane-based chemotherapy that inhibits microtubule depolymerization, and 177Lu-PSMA-I&T, a radioligand therapy. 177Lu-PSMA-I&T targets the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), which is highly expressed on prostate cancer cells, delivering localized beta-particle radiation (Lutetium-177) to the tumor cells and their microenvironment. This synergistic approach aims to enhance anti-tumor activity by combining systemic cytotoxic chemotherapy with targeted radiopharmaceutical delivery. The Instituto do Cancer do Estado de São Paulo is conducting a Phase I dose-escalation study to evaluate the safety and recommended Phase II dose of this combination.
