Overview

A combination therapy consisting of **docetaxel** (a taxane-class microtubule inhibitor), **carboplatin** (a platinum-based DNA cross-linking agent), and **farletuzumab** (a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting folate receptor alpha). This regimen has been studied primarily in the setting of **platinum-sensitive relapsed epithelial ovarian cancer** and related gynecologic tumors, aiming to improve outcomes over conventional chemotherapy alone. Farletuzumab acts by selectively binding folate receptor alpha, a cell-surface protein overexpressed on most epithelial ovarian cancer cells, to enhance immune-mediated tumor killing, while docetaxel and carboplatin act as cytotoxic agents. Combination with farletuzumab has shown enhanced response rates, particularly in women with first-relapse, platinum-sensitive disease. The regimen is typically administered intravenously in cycles, with farletuzumab continuing as maintenance therapy after chemotherapy[1][3].
