Overview

A combination therapy consisting of docetaxel (a taxane chemotherapy), epirubicin (an anthracycline chemotherapy), and endostatin (recombinant human endostatin/rh-endostatin, an anti-angiogenic agent). This regimen has been studied primarily as neoadjuvant therapy for breast cancer. Clinical trials have shown that adding endostatin to docetaxel and epirubicin chemotherapy produces higher tumor response rates without significantly increasing toxicity compared to docetaxel and epirubicin alone. The combination works through multiple mechanisms: docetaxel disrupts microtubule function, epirubicin intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, while endostatin inhibits angiogenesis by targeting endothelial cells and decreasing tumor blood flow and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression.
