Docetaxel + GM-CSF is a combination therapy used primarily in oncology. Docetaxel is a taxoid antineoplastic agent that inhibits cell division by stabilizing microtubules and preventing their depolymerization, leading to apoptosis of cancer cells. It is approved for the treatment of various cancers including breast and prostate cancer[2][1]. Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), such as sargramostim (Leukine), is a cytokine that stimulates the production and function of white blood cells, particularly granulocytes and macrophages[4]. In cancer therapy, GM-CSF can enhance immune responses against tumors by promoting antigen presentation and T-cell activation[6]. The combination has been investigated in preclinical models for its potential to improve anti-tumor efficacy without impeding immune activation; it may represent a strategy to combine chemotherapy with immunotherapy for enhanced tumor control[3].
