Docetaxel + methylprednisolone is a combination regimen consisting of docetaxel, a taxane-class antineoplastic agent, and methylprednisolone, a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid. Docetaxel acts by stabilizing microtubules and inhibiting their depolymerization, thereby disrupting mitotic and interphase cellular functions leading to apoptosis in cancer cells. Methylprednisolone exerts anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects through glucocorticoid receptor agonism; it is sometimes used as premedication to reduce the risk of hypersensitivity reactions associated with docetaxel administration or as part of supportive care during chemotherapy. While the most widely approved combination for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer is docetaxel plus prednisone or prednisolone[1][2][3], regimens substituting methylprednisolone for other corticosteroids may be used off-label or in specific clinical contexts.
