Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of **docetaxel**, a cytotoxic chemotherapy agent, and **Mycobacterium w** (also known as Mycobacterium indicus pranii or Mw), a killed mycobacterial immunomodulator. Docetaxel is a taxane that binds to and stabilizes microtubules, inhibiting mitosis and leading to cancer cell death. Mycobacterium w is a non-pathogenic mycobacterium used as an immunomodulator, thought to stimulate cell-mediated immunity via activation of T-cells and cytokine induction. This combination is explored for synergistic antitumor/immunomodulatory effects, potentially enhancing anti-cancer efficacy through both direct cytotoxicity (docetaxel) and immune system activation (Mycobacterium w).
