Drug intelligence / Profile preview
docetaxel + nab-paclitaxel refers to the taxane backbone options utilized in a Phase III clinical trial (NCT04142034) sponsored by the Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute. This trial investigates neoadjuvant treatment strategies for stage II/III HER2-positive breast cancer, specifically comparing the efficacy and safety of lobaplatin versus carboplatin when administered alongside either docetaxel or nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel (nab-paclitaxel) and dual HER2 blockade with trastuzumab and pertuzumab. Both docetaxel and nab-paclitaxel are taxane-class microtubule inhibitors; they bind to the beta-tubulin subunit, promoting microtubule assembly and stabilizing them against depolymerization. This mechanism results in mitotic arrest during the G2/M phase and subsequent apoptosis, effectively targeting rapidly proliferating malignant cells.
