Drug intelligence / Profile preview
docetaxel + obatoclax mesylate is a combination therapy investigated in clinical trials for the treatment of relapsed or refractory non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Docetaxel is a taxane chemotherapy agent that disrupts microtubule function, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Obatoclax mesylate is a pan-Bcl-2 inhibitor that antagonizes anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins, thereby promoting apoptosis and potentially enhancing the cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy. The combination was evaluated in phase 1/2 trials with the aim of improving outcomes in patients who had progressed after prior chemotherapy[1][8][3].
