Overview

Docetaxel + oxaliplatin is a combination of two cytotoxic chemotherapy agents used primarily in the treatment of various solid tumors, including advanced gastric and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. Docetaxel is a taxoid antineoplastic agent that promotes and stabilizes microtubule assembly, thereby inhibiting cell division and inducing apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Oxaliplatin is a third-generation platinum-based alkylating agent that exerts its anti-cancer effects by forming DNA crosslinks (primarily intra-strand), which block DNA replication and transcription, ultimately leading to cell death. This combination has been studied as part of multi-drug regimens for cancers such as gastric cancer, often alongside 5-fluorouracil[2][4][5][6].
