Overview

The combination of docetaxel, oxaliplatin, and capecitabine is a chemotherapy regimen used primarily for the treatment of advanced gastric cancer. This triplet therapy is sometimes referred to as the TEX or DOC regimen. Docetaxel is a taxane that inhibits microtubule depolymerization and disrupts cell division. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based agent that forms DNA crosslinks and induces apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Capecitabine is an oral prodrug converted to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in the body; it inhibits thymidylate synthase and interferes with DNA synthesis. Together, these agents target different aspects of cancer cell proliferation and survival[1][4][6][8]. The combination has shown activity as first-line therapy for metastatic or advanced gastric cancer with manageable toxicity profiles.
