Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The combination of docetaxel and Pivanex is an investigational therapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Docetaxel is a taxane chemotherapy agent that stabilizes microtubules, inhibiting cell division. Pivanex (pivaloyloxymethylbutyrate) is a histone deacetylase inhibitor that induces tumor cell differentiation and/or apoptosis. Preclinical studies have shown synergy between these agents in growth inhibition of NSCLC cell lines and improved survival in animal models. Clinical trials have demonstrated the combination to be well tolerated with promising activity in patients with advanced NSCLC[1][2][5].
