docetaxel + toremifene

Docetaxel + toremifene is an investigational combination therapy consisting of two distinct small molecule drugs, each with established antineoplastic activity but different mechanisms of action. Docetaxel is a taxane-class mitotic inhibitor that binds to tubulin, stabilizing microtubules and thereby inhibiting cell division and promoting apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells[3][4][6]. Toremifene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that acts primarily as an estrogen receptor antagonist in breast tissue, blocking the proliferative action of estrogens on hormone-sensitive tumors. The rationale for combining these agents would be to target both hormone-dependent and independent pathways in cancers such as breast cancer; however, there are no published clinical trials or regulatory approvals specifically for this combination as of June 2025.
