Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Docetaxel + vandetanib is a combination therapy that pairs docetaxel, a taxane chemotherapeutic agent, with vandetanib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Vandetanib inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and RET tyrosine kinases. The combination alters the balance of proapoptotic and prosurvival proteins, potentially enhancing docetaxel-induced apoptosis in cancer cells. This combination has been studied in various cancer types including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), prostate cancer, and urothelial cancer.
