Docetaxel + vinflunine is a combination of two cytotoxic chemotherapy drugs: docetaxel, a semisynthetic taxoid and antimitotic agent, and vinflunine, a novel fluorinated vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule assembly. Both agents disrupt mitosis and cell proliferation by interfering with microtubule dynamics but via distinct mechanisms—docetaxel stabilizes microtubules to prevent depolymerization, while vinflunine inhibits polymerization. The combination has been studied for use in advanced cancers, particularly as second-line therapy for platinum-refractory non-small-cell lung cancer and metastatic urothelial carcinoma, although typically in comparative single-agent regimens or investigator's choice, and very rarely as a formal combination regimen.
