Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination supplement containing three polyunsaturated fatty acids: docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). DHA and EPA are long-chain omega-3 fatty acids primarily found in fish oil, while GLA is an omega-6 fatty acid commonly derived from borage or evening primrose oil. This combination is designed to provide both anti-inflammatory and lipid-modifying effects. Mechanistically, these fatty acids modulate the production of eicosanoids such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes involved in inflammation. The combined supplementation has been shown to improve symptoms of dry eye disease by reducing inflammatory cytokines like TNF-alpha and IL-1β[2][5]. It also favorably alters blood lipid profiles by lowering triglycerides and LDL cholesterol[3], supports cardiovascular health[5], may benefit cognitive function[5], skin conditions such as eczema[5], metabolic syndrome, diabetes-related neuropathy, menopausal symptoms, arthritis/joint health[5], and overall eye health including tear production[7]. The product is available as a dietary supplement under various brand names.
