Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Dolutegravir + lamivudine** is a once-daily, fixed-dose, two-drug antiretroviral regimen for treatment of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infection. It combines dolutegravir, a human immunodeficiency virus type 1 integrase strand-transfer inhibitor that prevents integration of viral DNA into the host genome, with lamivudine, a nucleoside analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitor that inhibits viral reverse transcription through incorporation into viral DNA and chain termination. The marketed product **Dovato** contains dolutegravir 50 mg and lamivudine 300 mg in an oral tablet and is developed and marketed by ViiV Healthcare as a complete regimen for eligible treatment-naive or virologically suppressed people with human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infection.
