Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of five antiretroviral drugs used in the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. The components are: - **Dolutegravir**: an integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) that blocks HIV integrase, preventing viral DNA from integrating into the host genome. - **Lamivudine**: a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) that inhibits reverse transcriptase, blocking viral RNA conversion to DNA. - **Bictegravir**: another INSTI with a similar mechanism as dolutegravir, inhibiting HIV integrase. - **Emtricitabine**: an NRTI closely related to lamivudine, also inhibiting reverse transcriptase. - **Tenofovir alafenamide**: a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NtRTI), which is converted intracellularly to tenofovir diphosphate and inhibits reverse transcriptase. This combination would provide potent suppression of HIV replication by targeting two key steps in the viral life cycle—integrase-mediated integration and reverse transcription. Such multi-drug regimens are designed to maximize efficacy and minimize resistance development. However, there is no evidence from current sources that this exact five-drug combination exists as a single co-formulated product or has been approved or marketed under any brand name[1][2][3][4]. Each component is individually approved for use in various dual or triple combinations for HIV therapy.
