Overview

Domatinostat (4SC-202) is an orally administered small molecule that acts as a selective inhibitor of Class I histone deacetylases (HDACs). It is designed to enhance the body’s anti-tumor immune response by modulating the tumor microenvironment, facilitating immune cell infiltration into tumors, and making cancer cells more visible to the immune system. Pembrolizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), functioning as an immune checkpoint inhibitor to promote anti-tumor immunity. The combination of domatinostat and pembrolizumab is being investigated for its potential synergistic effects in treating advanced melanoma and other cancers where resistance or suboptimal response to checkpoint inhibitors occurs. Domatinostat was developed by 4SC AG; pembrolizumab was developed by Merck & Co[1][2][3][5][6].
