Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Domperidone + pantoprazole is a fixed-dose combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and related gastrointestinal disorders. Domperidone is a prokinetic agent that acts as a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist, enhancing gastric motility and accelerating gastric emptying to reduce symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in the parietal cells of the stomach. The combination addresses both hyperacidity and impaired gastrointestinal motility, providing comprehensive symptom relief in conditions like GERD, nonulcer dyspepsia, erosive esophagitis, and functional dyspepsia[1][3][7].
