Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of donepezil, an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, and rasagiline, a selective and irreversible monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) inhibitor. Donepezil works by inhibiting the breakdown of acetylcholine in the brain, thereby increasing cholinergic transmission, which may help relieve symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. Rasagiline works by inhibiting MAO-B, which increases dopamine levels in the brain, potentially helping with Parkinson's disease symptoms. When combined, these medications may have a drug interaction that increases the risk of CNS depression.
