Dopamine + furosemide is a combination therapy involving the intravenous administration of dopamine, a catecholamine vasopressor and inotrope, with furosemide, a loop diuretic. This combination is primarily used in clinical settings for patients with acute decompensated heart failure or hepatorenal syndrome to enhance diuresis and improve cardiac function. Dopamine acts as an agonist at dopaminergic and adrenergic receptors to increase renal blood flow (at low doses) and support cardiac output (at higher doses), while furosemide inhibits the Na-K-2Cl symporter in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle, promoting natriuresis and diuresis.
