Overview

PhotoDOX is a novel, light-activated drug delivery system for cancer therapy that combines the chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin with proprietary photosensitive porphyrin-phospholipid (PoP) nanoparticles. Developed by POP Biotechnologies, PhotoDOX enables localized and controlled release of doxorubicin at tumor sites upon activation by light. This approach enhances therapeutic efficacy and minimizes systemic toxicity compared to conventional chemotherapy or photodynamic therapy. The PoP-liposome formulation provides long circulation time, robust serum stability, and photodynamic enhancement of vascular permeability, allowing precise targeting of solid tumors that are resistant to standard treatments[1][2][3].
