Prosemble's nanoparticle reformulation of doxorubicin is a preclinical-stage therapeutic designed to enhance the delivery and safety profile of the conventional anthracycline chemotherapy. By encapsulating doxorubicin within a nanoparticle carrier, the formulation aims to improve tumor-specific accumulation, potentially reducing the cardiotoxicity and other systemic side effects associated with free doxorubicin. The active agent, doxorubicin, exerts its antineoplastic effect by intercalating into DNA and inhibiting the enzyme topoisomerase II, which prevents DNA replication and induces apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. This reformulation is being evaluated for a broad range of indications, including breast cancer, bladder cancer, Kaposi's sarcoma, lymphoma, and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
