Overview

Doxorubicin + filgrastim is a combination regimen used primarily in oncology, where doxorubicin, an anthracycline antineoplastic agent, is administered alongside filgrastim, a recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). Doxorubicin works by intercalating DNA and inhibiting topoisomerase II, leading to cytotoxicity in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Filgrastim stimulates the bone marrow to increase production of neutrophils and is used to reduce the incidence and duration of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. This combination aims to maximize anti-tumor efficacy while mitigating one of the major dose-limiting toxicities of doxorubicin—neutropenia—by supporting white blood cell recovery[1][5][6].
