Overview
Doxorubicin + fluorouracil + cisplatin is a chemotherapy combination regimen used to treat various cancers, particularly gastrointestinal malignancies. This combination has been studied in gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, and other upper gastrointestinal carcinomas. The regimen typically consists of cisplatin administered intravenously on day 1, doxorubicin administered intravenously on days 1 and 2, and 5-fluorouracil administered intravenously on day 2. In some protocols, vincristine may be added to this combination (C5VD). The combination shows promising efficacy but can cause toxicities including leukopenia, stomatitis, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and alopecia.
