Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of two chemotherapeutic agents (doxorubicin and paclitaxel) with an antiemetic medication (palonosetron). Doxorubicin is an anthracycline chemotherapy drug, while paclitaxel is a taxane-based chemotherapeutic agent. Palonosetron is a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used to prevent chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). Palonosetron has a higher binding affinity to 5-HT3 receptors and a significantly longer half-life (approximately 40 hours) compared to other drugs in its class, making it effective for both acute and delayed CINV.
