Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Doxorubicin + vinblastine is a chemotherapy combination used in various regimens for cancer treatment. Doxorubicin (also called Adriamycin) is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, while vinblastine is a vinca alkaloid that binds to tubulin and inhibits microtubule assembly. Together, these drugs destroy rapidly dividing cells, such as cancer cells. This combination is commonly used as part of multi-drug regimens including ABVD (with bleomycin and dacarbazine) for Hodgkin lymphoma and M-VAC (with methotrexate and cisplatin) for urothelial carcinoma.
