Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Doxorubicin + vinflunine is an investigational combination chemotherapy regimen composed of two cytotoxic agents used in the treatment of cancer. Doxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that exerts its antitumor effects primarily through DNA intercalation and inhibition of topoisomerase II, leading to DNA damage and generation of reactive oxygen species. Vinflunine is a third-generation vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule assembly by binding to tubulin, thereby disrupting mitotic spindle formation and arresting cell division. The combination has been evaluated in phase I clinical studies for safety, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy in patients with advanced solid tumors[1][4][7]. Both drugs are small molecules with established roles as antineoplastic agents.
