Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Doxycycline + Lactic Acid Bacillus is a combination pharmaceutical product containing the broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic doxycycline and the probiotic lactic acid bacillus (Lactobacillus). Doxycycline exerts its antibacterial effect by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and preventing bacterial growth. Lactic acid bacillus is included to mitigate antibiotic-associated dysbiosis by restoring the natural balance of gut microbiota. The probiotic produces lactic acid, creating an acidic environment that inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria. This combination is primarily used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections, while reducing the risk of gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea.
