Doxycycline + s-equol is a combination of two agents with distinct mechanisms and uses. Doxycycline is a tetracycline-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit in bacteria. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhea, acne, rosacea, urinary tract infections, and for malaria prophylaxis[1][2][5]. S-equol is a nonsteroidal estrogen produced from soy isoflavones by intestinal bacteria or synthesized directly; it acts as an agonist with selective affinity for estrogen receptor beta (ERβ), functioning as a selective estrogen receptor modulator[6]. S-equol has been investigated for its potential benefits in hormone-dependent conditions such as menopausal symptoms and breast cancer[6][8].
