Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Termispaz-MF is a fixed-dose combination tablet containing the antispasmodic agent drotaverine and the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) mefenamic acid. Developed by Resilient Cosmeceuticals, it is approved for the management of spasmodic dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia, abdominal pain, and pain associated with intrauterine device (IUD) insertion. Drotaverine acts as a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4), leading to increased intracellular cyclic AMP levels and subsequent smooth muscle relaxation without significant anticholinergic side effects. Mefenamic acid provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins that mediate pain and uterine contractions.
