DRT-101 (Disrupt Therapeutics)

DRT-101 is an oral peptide-based therapeutic candidate being developed by Disrupt Therapeutics for the treatment of cannabis use disorder (CUD) and neuropathic pain. The drug specifically targets the heterodimer formed by the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1R) and the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor (5-HT2AR). By disrupting the physical interaction between these two receptors, DRT-101 aims to preserve the analgesic effects of cannabinoids while preventing the cognitive impairments and memory deficits typically associated with CB1R activation. This mechanism is intended to reduce harmful cravings in patients with CUD and provide a safer profile for medicinal cannabis use in chronic pain management by uncoupling the signaling pathways responsible for side effects from those responsible for therapeutic benefits.
