This combination immunization regimen consists of a hexavalent vaccine (targeting diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, and Haemophilus influenzae type b) and a pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine. The hexavalent component (such as Hexaxim or Infanrix hexa) typically contains diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis antigens (including pertussis toxoid and filamentous hemagglutinin), recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen, inactivated poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3, and Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a carrier protein. The pneumococcal component (such as Prevenar 13) contains capsular polysaccharides from multiple Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes, each conjugated to a carrier protein like CRM197. This combination is administered to infants and young children to provide broad protection against seven major pediatric infectious diseases and is often evaluated for safety and immunogenicity when given concomitantly during the same clinical visit.
