Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This combination product represents the concomitant administration of a hexavalent vaccine (DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP-T) and a 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13). The hexavalent component, such as Sanofi's Hexaxim or Vaxelis (developed with MSD), provides active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, hepatitis B, and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b. The PCV13 component, marketed as Prevenar 13 by Pfizer, targets 13 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae. This combination is primarily used in pediatric immunization schedules to provide broad protection against multiple bacterial and viral pathogens while reducing the total number of injections required during infancy. Clinical trials, such as NCT01177722, have evaluated the safety, immunogenicity, and antibody persistence of these vaccines when administered together in healthy infants.
