Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DTX-SPL8783 (also known as DEP-docetaxel) is a dendrimer–drug conjugate developed by Starpharma using its proprietary DEP® (Dendrimer Enhanced Product) platform. It consists of docetaxel molecules covalently attached to a dendrimer nanoparticle scaffold via a controlled-release linker. This nanotechnology-based formulation is designed to improve the therapeutic index of docetaxel by enhancing tumor targeting through the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, extending plasma half-life (40–60 hours), and reducing systemic toxicities such as neutropenia and hypersensitivity reactions compared to conventional docetaxel (Taxotere®). DTX-SPL8783 is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), both as a monotherapy and in combination with other agents like nintedanib.
