Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The duck reovirus inactivated vaccine (strain TH11) is a veterinary biologic developed by Spirit Jinyu Biological Pharmaceutical for the prevention of novel duck reovirus (NDRV) infections in avian species, particularly ducks. This vaccine utilizes the TH11 strain of the virus, which is inactivated to eliminate pathogenicity while preserving its ability to stimulate the host's immune system. NDRV is characterized by severe hemorrhagic and necrotic lesions in the liver and spleen, leading to high mortality rates in young ducklings and substantial economic impact on the poultry industry. The vaccine is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development, intended to provide protective immunity through the exposure of killed viral particles to the avian immune system.
