Overview

duloxetine + lidocaine is a fixed-combination drug product containing duloxetine, a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), and lidocaine, a local anesthetic. This combination is used for the management of conditions where both central sensitization (e.g., major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, chronic musculoskeletal pain) and local pain management (topical lidocaine for localized pain) are clinically warranted. Duloxetine acts centrally by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, increasing their levels in the central nervous system and modulating pain signaling as well as mood. Lidocaine provides local anesthesia by blocking sodium channels in neuronal membranes, thus preventing the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses at the site of application. The two drugs are supplied together in a kit form for co-administration, targeting patients with complex pain that may benefit from both systemic and localized analgesic effects[1][3][4][5].
