Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Imfinzi + bacillus Calmette-Guérin is an immunotherapy combination regimen consisting of durvalumab (Imfinzi), a human monoclonal antibody targeting programmed cell death 1 ligand 1 (PD-L1), and bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG), a live attenuated strain of Mycobacterium bovis. Developed by AstraZeneca, this combination is approved in the United States for the treatment of adult patients with BCG-naïve, high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). The approval was supported by results from the Phase III POTOMAC trial, which demonstrated that adding one year of durvalumab to standard BCG induction and maintenance therapy significantly reduced the risk of high-risk disease recurrence, progression, or death by 32% compared to BCG alone.
