Overview

Durvalumab is a monoclonal antibody immunotherapy that targets programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), blocking its interaction with PD-1 and CD80, thereby enabling the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells. It is primarily used in the treatment of various cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), small cell lung cancer, biliary tract cancers, hepatocellular carcinoma, endometrial cancer, and muscle invasive bladder cancer. Selumetinib is a small molecule inhibitor of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1 and 2 (MEK1/2), which are key components of the Ras-Raf-MEK-ERK signaling pathway involved in tumor growth and survival. Selumetinib is approved for pediatric patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) who have symptomatic, inoperable plexiform neurofibromas but has also been investigated for use in various solid tumors. The combination of durvalumab and selumetinib has been studied in clinical trials for advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer as well as other malignancies[4][5][6][8].
