This combination therapy involves the use of an immune checkpoint inhibitor—either the PD-L1 inhibitor durvalumab or the PD-1 inhibitor pembrolizumab—in conjunction with SCL-3010 (also referred to as SLC-3010), an investigational interleukin-2 (IL-2) cytokine therapy. Developed for the treatment of advanced biliary tract cancer (BTC), this regimen is being evaluated as a maintenance strategy in patients who have achieved disease control following initial chemoimmunotherapy. The mechanism of action combines the blockade of inhibitory immune checkpoints (PD-1 or PD-L1) with the immunostimulatory effects of IL-2, which is intended to activate tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and reverse the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, thereby enhancing the anti-tumor immune response.
