Drug intelligence / Profile preview
E-PRF + rhBMP-2 is a combination therapy consisting of endogenous platelet-rich fibrin (E-PRF) and recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 (rhBMP-2). E-PRF is an autologous blood-derived biomaterial rich in platelets and growth factors, used to promote tissue regeneration. RhBMP-2 is a recombinant form of the naturally occurring BMP-2 protein, which induces osteogenic differentiation and stimulates new bone formation by binding to specific receptors on mesenchymal stem cells. The combination aims to leverage the scaffold properties and growth factor content of E-PRF with the potent osteoinductive effect of rhBMP-2 for enhanced bone regeneration. This approach has been investigated primarily in dental, maxillofacial, and orthopedic applications for critical-sized bone defects or conditions such as medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ)[1][7].
