Overview

E39 peptide + sargramostim (GALE-301) is an investigational peptide-based therapeutic cancer vaccine designed to prevent recurrence in patients with folate binding protein (FBP)-expressing cancers, including ovarian, endometrial, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancers. The vaccine consists of the E39 peptide (amino acid sequence EIWTHSYKV), which is an HLA-A2-restricted immunogenic epitope derived from FBP (also known as Folate Receptor-alpha), and sargramostim (GM-CSF) as an immunoadjuvant. The mechanism of action involves the stimulation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) to recognize and eliminate residual FBP-expressing tumor cells following standard-of-care treatment. It was primarily developed by Galena Biopharma in collaboration with COL George E. Peoples.
