Ebesanar (allo-APZ2) is an allogeneic cell therapy consisting of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that express the ATP-binding cassette member B5 (ABCB5) marker. Developed by RHEACELL, these cells are derived from human donor skin (dermal MSCs). ABCB5+ MSCs possess potent immunomodulatory and pro-angiogenic properties. In the context of Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease (PAOD), the cells are administered intramuscularly to promote wound healing of chronic ulcers and improve blood flow by modulating inflammation and stimulating tissue regeneration. The ABCB5 marker is used to isolate a specific subpopulation of MSCs that exhibit enhanced therapeutic potential compared to non-selected MSCs.
