Overview
The ebola vaccine + marburg vaccine refers to a multivalent filovirus vaccine candidate, most notably the one developed by Profectus BioSciences and licensed by Emergent BioSolutions. This vaccine utilizes the VesiculoVax platform, which is based on a recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus (rVSV) vector attenuated by shuffling the gene order and truncating the cytoplasmic tail of the glycoprotein. The trivalent formulation is designed to provide protection against Zaire ebolavirus, Sudan ebolavirus, and Marburg virus by expressing the respective viral glycoproteins to elicit robust neutralizing antibody and T-cell responses. The program has been supported by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) for IND-enabling preclinical testing and early-stage clinical evaluation.
