EBV CAR-T cells are an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by The Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University. This cell therapy is specifically engineered to target Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)-associated antigens, which are characteristically expressed in EBV-positive malignancies such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The treatment involves the genetic modification of T cells to express a CAR that recognizes EBV-related proteins on the surface of tumor cells, facilitating targeted immune-mediated cytotoxicity. In clinical trial settings for relapsed or refractory EBV-positive NPC, the therapy is typically administered as an intravenous infusion following a lymphodepleting conditioning regimen of fludarabine and cyclophosphamide to enhance the expansion and persistence of the engineered cells.
