Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The EBV vaccine candidate (five-antigen) is a preclinical-stage prophylactic and therapeutic vaccine developed by The Vaccine Company (acquired by Eli Lilly). It utilizes a proprietary In Vivo Nanoparticle (IVN) platform that combines mRNA technology with the ability to form virus-like particles (VLPs) directly within the recipient's body. The vaccine is designed to express five distinct Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) antigens to elicit a broad and comprehensive immune response. Its primary indications include the prevention of infectious mononucleosis and potential applications in treating or preventing EBV-associated conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and various EBV-associated malignancies, including lymphomas and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
