Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Edatrexate + paclitaxel is an investigational combination chemotherapy regimen composed of two antineoplastic agents, edatrexate and paclitaxel. Edatrexate is a folate analog metabolic inhibitor structurally related to methotrexate, acting primarily as an antimetabolite by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase and interfering with DNA synthesis. Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing agent that promotes tubulin polymerization and inhibits cell division by preventing microtubule depolymerization. The combination has been explored in clinical trials for synergistic cytotoxic effects against solid tumors, leveraging the distinct mechanisms of action of each component to enhance anticancer efficacy.
