Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EDIRA088 + EDIRA092 + EDIRA083 is an experimental, unapproved antibacterial phage therapy cocktail consisting of three lytic bacteriophages (EDIRA083, EDIRA088, and EDIRA092) isolated from sewage and environmental water samples. These phages belong to distinct genera within the Caudoviricetes class (formerly Siphoviridae family) and target multidrug-resistant (MDR), extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae strains, specifically those causing recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). EDIRA083 and EDIRA092 target the bacterial capsule, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and the maltoporin LamB as receptors, while EDIRA088 targets a different, distinct receptor. The cocktail has demonstrated synergistic lytic activity in vitro, with enhanced and sustained bacterial killing in human urine compared to standard Luria-Bertani (LB) medium.
